The unseasonably warm and sunny weather has formed a lovely backdrop to the start of Term 2. For those of us who worry about the onset of winter and the cold, these sunny afternoons and warm temperatures make it easier to get up and out to enjoy school life, whether that be getting my steps up walking across the oval, watching students enjoying recess and lunchtime outside, or looking at the lovely green trees against the blue sky through my office window.

This week saw an off-campus planning day for the Carmel Leadership Team. These days are always fruitful and this was no exception. We worked on a number of things, including how we can best communicate the many actions we have been taking based on the feedback you provided via our survey. I enjoyed our consideration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the school context and we weighed up the positive functions such as significant time-saving, against the potential challenges of AI issues such as the use of deepfakes. It is now very easy to artificially generate images which are entirely fictional, but which are incredibly difficult to distinguish as such. You can imagine the challenges this ability can cause in the wrong hands.听

Gratitude is said to have a real impact on health and wellbeing. There are many things for which we are grateful at 黑料天堂 and this week we were incredibly grateful to the Shor family, whose beautiful grand piano now sits in splendour in Mr Butler鈥檚 music room and has already been much admired. I fully plan to take advantage of my position in the school hierarchy and arrive extra early with sheet music some mornings, so I can enjoy playing this wonderful musical instrument. We were very grateful to Mr Yitzhak Yedid, who gave up his time to showcase the sound of the piano in a lunchtime mini-recital, which was well-attended by students and staff.
